The concentrator photovoltaic (CPV) system is a high concentration photovoltaic power generation system using an optical system that focuses a large area of sunlight onto each high-efficiency solar cell.
Serious R&D work on concentrated photovoltaics has been conducted since the 1970's, but it is not until recently that the technology began moving into commercialization.
SolFocus is a leading developer of this promising technology. In this presentation, Ms. Hartsoch explains CPV's performance advantages and demonstrates its readiness for commercial deployment through case-studies of the company's two latest installation projects - one for Victor Valley College in California, and the other for Alice Springs Airport, Australia.
