Astrup shows a photo of Meyer as an overweight teenager, and the NOMA chef talks about his self-imposed, “borderline eating disorder” consisting of oatmeal with skim milk and artificial sweetener. The revelation came when Meyer spent a year in France and was introduced to food transcending his wildest fantasies. He returned to Denmark on a mission to change the Danish food culture. However, the dishes were high in fat, making obesity scientist Astrup frown every time the cooking show Meyer started was aired, calculating how many blood clots and strokes would result from this.

Meyer, on the other hand, regarded Astrup as an anemic, neurotic doctor that directly threatened his hedonistic project.

How the two worlds came together is revealed in this segment. - Mette McCall, Journalist, McCall Media
