去年夏天在旧金山的 ”Intersolar 太阳能北美商展“ 中认识Robert Freling，我被他一张嘴流利的中文下了一跳。 得知他与太阳能的不解之缘始于中国，之后15年多一直从事将太阳能带到第三世界边远山村的工作，更觉得他的故事不寻常。我当即决定采访了他。
采访大部分是用英语，但这一段在我的要求下，改用中文。 Freling 先生没被难倒，恭敬从命。 这是我第一次用中文采访“老外”，既好玩儿， 又是很有意义的话题。采访后的一点闲聊中，听到他的法语也很地道。 后来调研他的履历，才知道原来他还能说西班牙语、葡萄牙语、俄语和印尼语！
这些语言，大概在他的环球工作中都用得上。Freling 先生是 Solar Electric Light Fund ”太阳能光电基金“的执行主任。这家组织利用太阳能为发展中国家的人民提供电力，解决贫困，改善教育和医疗，可以说是太阳能造福人类的绝佳写照，而且已经有了20多年的历史， 在亚洲、非洲和美洲的20多个国家实施了太阳能项目！
我采访的时候，这家基金正在与一家致力于卫生健康事业的国际慈善组织 “Partners in Health”合作，为地震后的海地医院加速实施太阳能安装，利用重建的机会直接跳入可更新能源。
