In July 2010, Apexigen was spun-out from Epitomics, Inc. with an exclusive, worldwide license to Epitomics' rabbit monoclonal antibody technologies for use in the development and commercialization of therapeutic antibodies. Apexigen will focus on discovering and developing drugs from this proprietary antibody technology platforms, while Epitomics will continue to utilize the technology to develop and commercialize rabbit antibodies for non-therapeutic uses.
At BioPacific 2011 organized by CABS (Chinese-American BioPharmaceutical Society), Xiaodong Yang, M.D., President and CEO of Apexigen explains how alliances with partners in China plays a key role in the new company's development strategy, and reflects on their experience managing the relationships so far.
